The state of Kerala is different in many ways from the rest of India. The cultural evolution of Kerala took place on different lines from the ancient times. Matrilineal as a stem of social organization differentiate it from the neighbors and much of India. Kerala ranks highest on most off the Human development indices amongst Indian states. The art forms like Kathakali, Mohiniyattom, etc, along with Kalaripayattu (Kerala's traditional martial art) are representative of Kerala. Even Hinduism practiced here is different s a result of assimilation with traditional Dravidian culture and matrilineal system. It is the only place in the world to practice ancient Vedic tantric rituals. Jews lived here for 2000 years before migrating to Israel in 1950s.
